From the mid 2000s onward, toy-brick maker Lego seemed unstoppable. Alas, nothing lasts forever, and the company's decade-long period of growth eventually came to a screeching halt in 2017. That year, sales fell for the first time since 2004. If this were not enough, the collapse of specialist retailers Toys "R" Us and Top-Toy further added to the company's woes. In today's world of Fortnite and Minecraft, Lego has been forced to reevaluate its business piece by piece, starting with its top position.
